Good Friday Resources
Here are a few of the Good Friday Resources I am using to help prepare my heart for Easter.
Good Friday: Read
If you only have one resource, let it be the most important one: your Bible!
Read the Good Friday of the Lord’s Passion daily mass readings:
- Reading 1: Isaiah 52:13- 53:12
- Responsorial Psalm: Ps 31:2, 6, 12-13, 15-16, 17, 25
- Reading 2: Hebrews 4:14-16-16, 5:7-9
- Verse Before the Gospel: Phil 2:8-9
- Gospel: John 18:1- 19:42
Good Friday: Listen
I love this daily meditation from Regnum Christi, it’s so powerful especially for Good Friday:
Lord, convince my heart that you truly died out of personal love for me.
I’m bringing that petition into my quiet time and reflection today for Good Friday!
Listen to the full Regnum Christi Daily Meditation for Good Friday (April 10, 2020) HERE.
NOTE: I think the daily meditations change out daily, so you may have to go back in the archives if you aren’t clicking the listen link no April 10, 2020.
Good Friday: Watch
We watched this classic sermon on Passion Sunday but it will be a great Good Friday message too. (NOTE: Skip ahead to 3 minute 15 second mark to avoid the intro)
I found this to be a powerful and dramatic telling of the agony of the cross, found in John 19:28-37.
Dr. D. James Kennedy has such a strong voice and his delivery of this message moved me.
I am sharing it here so I can rewatch this sermon on Passion Sunday or Good Friday in years to come. It’s that good! I love all the historical context and related points woven into the story, I really learned a lot.
I challenge anyone to watch this Conquest at Calvary sermon and apply the Regnum Christi petition to it:
Lord, convince my heart that you truly died out of personal love for me.
