How to have a happier, healthier Christmas
Do you stress and obsess about holiday food to the point of becoming a Scrooge? Ditch those diet thoughts and have a happier, healthier Christmas. Learn how with in this FREE 30 minute video teaching.
I’ve said in past years that my goal during the Christmas season is to thrive rather than just survive. But that’s not easy to do.
One thing I know for sure is that I want to be PRESENT and I want to ENJOY the season. I do NOT want to be in my head at Christmas.
Because when I’m in my head the logistics and details of everything overwhelm me. I know what it’s like to constantly be thinking about:
What dish am I going to bring to this party?
Will there be anything that I can eat there?
How in the world am I going to stay on top of my health routine with all these different pulls on my time and attention?
Maybe you’re nodding your head in agreement… If you are, let’s declare this together – even if we don’t know how we are going to do it, let’s set our intentions to do it.
Let’s focus on what truly matters
We can begin right now preparing our hearts, minds and calendars for a Christmas season where the focus is on the celebration and the blessing and NOT on ourselves, NOT on our fears, and NOT our worries.
That means something’s gotta go… and I think I know what that has to be: X Diets X
If you’re with me, declare your intention for a Christmas full of peace, presence and joy!
Say it out loud right now:
- I will NOT let diets steal my peace this Christmas!
- I will NOT let diets distract me from being present with my loved ones!
- I will NOT let diets kill my joy this Christmas!
Don’t dread it, savor it!
Thinking about the holidays obviously makes me think about food. What Christmas party does not involve eating? Work potlucks, cookie exchanges, and all the family dinners! I’m flooded with excitement just thinking about it and I know many of you are flooded with anxiety.
You’re already planning out how to combat all of the yummy food with extra exercise. You think to yourself that if you just work out more, then you won’t feel guilty for that big piece of pie you know you’ll eat. You know you will eat the pie because you don’t want to offend someone. Maybe you’ll eat the pie so that people won’t ask you why you skipped out.
Or you might be dreading the party altogether. You just want to avoid it altogether because that seems easier and makes you less anxious. We end up driving ourselves crazy as we try to process through this.
The holidays are complicated enough. We don’t need to throw anxiety and guilt about food into the mix.
This time of year is supposed to be a time to be thankful, to celebrate, and to anticipate what is to come.
Let’s not be be so busy dreading, fearing and working against holiday weight gain that we miss out on the holidays. It’s the most wonderful time of the year!
A happier, healthier Christmas
Imagine with me… You walk into the Christmas party, and you aren’t stressed out about what others might be thinking about your physical appearance. Instead of being anxious you are simply happy to be there.
Don’t you want that? Who wouldn’t?!
Think for a few minutes about how much more enjoyable Christmas could be if you weren’t focused on body image!
I remember dreaming of this. I knew I had to change my mindset, but I wasn’t sure how to make that happen. It can feel very overwhelming, especially if you feel like you have to go at it alone.
You aren’t stuck in your current state of mind even though you may feel like it. This Christmas season can be different and I want that for you. I want you to be able to walk into that party and not be consumed with diets, food, and body image.
How would the holidays be different if you weren’t concerned with your body image, or worried about what people thought about you, or analyzing whether you should eat that piece of pie?
How would LIFE be different if you weren’t consumed with thoughts about food and your body?
It really is possible to get out of that place! You know the place that I am talking about. The place where you are discouraged and frustrated. The place where you’re anxious about being judged by others. The place where your emotions are high and you can’t get out of your own head. This is a place that no one wants to be.
